How to Budder Your Base

Wax Application Instructions

Base Prep: Start Fresh

1. Scrape Off Old Wax: Clear off any leftover wax from previous sessions. Use a scraper to get your base smooth and ready for a fresh layer of Board Budder.

2. Clean the Base: Wipe away dirt and grime with Board Budder Base Cleaner or rubbing alcohol. A clean base ensures the wax adheres properly, giving you the best performance.

Dripping Wax: The Foundation

3. Set the Iron Temperature: Set your waxing iron to 120ºC - 130ºC. Any lower, and it's like trying to butter toast with butter straight out of the freezer-it just won't spread right. This temperature range lets the wax melt perfectly for an even application.

4. Drip the Wax: Start at the nose of your skis or board. Hold the iron 6-12 inches above the base, and press the wax against the iron. Let the wax drip onto the base, creating a smooth, even distribution of wax droplets over the surface.

5. Even It Out: Sweep the iron from edge to edge, working your way down the length of the base. Make sure the wax is evenly distributed for optimal performance.

Ironing Wax: Smooth & Steady

6. Iron the Wax: Place the iron directly onto your base and glide slowly over the surface, allowing the wax to spread evenly. Cover the entire surface with a thin, smooth layer.

7. Cool Down: Time to chill. Let the wax cool down to room temp for 15-20 minutes. Patience here is key - this ensures the wax sets properly and gives you a solid base for scraping. It is more difficult to scrape if the wax is still warm.

Scraping: Fine-Tuning

8. Scrape the Wax: Start at the tip of your skis or snowboard. Hold your scraper at a 45º angle and scrape from nose to tail, removing the excess wax.

9. Keep Scraping: Continue until you're no longer getting wax off the base. Don't worry - plenty of wax has seeped into the microscopic nooks and crannies of your base.

10. Polish it Off: Use a Board Budder cork bar to polish the base. Rub it in a nose-to-tail motion to achieve a smooth finish.

11. Brush it Out: Run the Board Budder Nylon Brush from nose to tail. This creates tiny channels that help direct water away from your base, improving glide.

Final Steps: Ready to Shred

12. Hit the Slopes: Your skis or snowboard are now waxed to perfection and begging for action. Enjoy the smooth, fast ride that comes with a fresh Board Budder wax job.

13. Shred Responsibly: Remember, with great wax comes great responsibility. Respect the mountain, love the snow, and Shred Responsibly.
